财神炳

29 FEBRUARY 2012, WEDNESDAY

Mr. Postman came to my door step yesterday and given me a parcel. What a surprise, it was a '财神炳' figuring, one of the main 'characters' in the movie - "Ah Beng The Movie: Three Wishes (阿炳:心想事成)" (for those who have watched the movie, which was one of the Chinese New Year blockbusters, will know what I'm talking about.

On 20 January 2012, two days before we celebrate Chinese New Year, I actually won 4 movie tickets from MY FM (101.8) to watch this "Ah Beng The Movie: Three Wishes (阿炳:心想事成)" but never know that I will also be receiving this limited edition '财神炳' until yesterday.

Kit boy loves it so much that he immediately placed it on HIS table and claimed that the '财神炳' is HIS that Ah Beng sent it to him (he is a great fan of Ah Beng and actually asked us to bring him for the movie even before I won the tickets). Thanks to MY FM.

Movie Synopsis

It's the eve of The Lunar New Year in a village. Every household is busy preparing to receive the auspicious God Of Fortune (GOF). Comes midnight, people of various races impersonate the GOF. They walk up to each household to offer mandarin oranges and lucky numbers in return for an "Ang Pau".

The worst dressed scruffy GOF who receives a tiny token from Ah Beng's father, is in fact, the true and almighty GOF. Without realizing, Ah Beng's father comments that he should be better dressed and wishes him good luck and good health, very sincerely. The true GOF is touched by Ah Beng's father's sincerity and grants him 3 wishes. And Ah Beng's father's first wish granted is to see how's his only son, Ah Beng, looks like or doing in future.

Things started to change when Ah Beng's father was brought to the future and met up with his beloved son, Ah Beng who then worked as a not-so-bright security guard at an open car-park.

Release Date : 19 January 2012
Genre : Comedy 喜剧
Language : Cantonese 粤语
Director : Director Silver
Casts : 林德荣Jack Lim, 颜薇恩Gan Mei Yan, 陈志康Royce Tan, 邱文博Bernard, 曾洁钰Ah Yoke

I personally love the story line as it was very funny and at the same time quite touching too. And I also got the Moral of the Story:

  • In real life, no one will be able to see their future, like Ah Beng's father in the movie, and have the opportunity to change and therefore, we must know how to plan and work towards it in order for us to achieve what we want in our future, either for our family, career or kids.

  • Both, family and friendship is equally important to every human on earth.

We actually watched it on 07 February which is after Chinese New Year reason being, it's always FULL HOUSE during the CNY holidays. So, for those who have missed it, I believed you can always get a copy of the DVD and laugh-it-out together with your family.
